We have been involved in the canine world for over 33 years. Our lives have revolved around the world of dogs; we love to travel, and have visited parts of the world that our parents could only dream of going. Spare time (what is that?!) when it comes along we tend to grab it with both hands. Now, we are both retired, we tend to spend most of it in the garden the place that we love best.

During the 25 years existence of the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of South Wales, the membership has been privileged by having Mr. Mrs. Payne as our life presidents for a number of years; unfortunately, both are no longer with us. Len's Kennel Club constitutional background, plus his knowledge of the canine world, put him in the forefront as one of the leading contenders as their successor. He has now been President for three years; he revels in his new position. In its 25th year, the club is now reaching new dimensions. We are founder Club committee members and honorary life members. After serving our apprenticeship at Tre gwillym kennels, thirty-three years later, we find our selves to be the oldest and most established Welsh Springer Spaniel breeding kennels in Wales.

We are both breed specialised Judges, Len first gave Challenge Certificates in the breed in 1986; Kath in 2000, Len also gives CCs in several breeds under F.C.I. rules. Travel and our judging experiences have introduced us to many friends and colleagues all over the world. Open shows, we judge all breeds, groups, and best in show. Len has professionally handled Welsh and Lakeland Terriers, he exhibited three Welsh Terriers to their titles. Over the years, our kennel has also exhibited Cockers and English Springer Spaniels.

Pontypool Canine Society has been given priority for 30 years, Len presiding as Chairman and Kath as Treasurer. Nothing gives us more pleasure that running the Society's puppy socialising classes, we see breeds of all shapes and sizes, sharing our experience and helping other exhibitors, gives us both that wonderful feeling of satisfaction.
